Dallas, Texas (May 8, 2017) — Meridian Realty Advisors, L.P. (“Meridian”) has partnered with MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets (“MedVet”) to expand MedVet’s emergency and specialty veterinary services available to the pet owners and veterinary community of the Greater Dallas area.

MedVet, a leading veterinary specialty healthcare provider operating 15 locations across the country, is expanding in the Dallas market today as the result of a new real estate partnership with Meridian. MedVet began operations in the Dallas area in December 2016 with the acquisition of Emergency Animal Clinic, Inc. and most recently, Veterinary Medicine Specialists of DFW. “Our goal is to provide MedVet’s well-known emergency and specialty expertise and highest quality of care to local veterinary practices, pets, and their families,” said Dr. Linda Lehmkuhl, MedVet’s Chief Medical Officer.

When Meridian founder Curt Boisfontaine’s 5-year-old Rottweiler, named Tutt, was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he became determined to build a state-of-the-art veterinary specialty and emergency care hospital in central Dallas. “Dallas has veterinary specialists, but they are scattered about. There is no true specialty hospital in Dallas proper with all of the specialists working together under one roof. This new Dallas project will be a comprehensive emergency and specialty healthcare facility for the patients in the Dallas market.” said Boisfontaine.

After researching the veterinary specialty healthcare industry, Boisfontaine found an opportunity to partner with MedVet, a company focused on providing compassionate and comprehensive healthcare. “We determined that from a real estate and transaction structure perspective, there could be many similarities between our housing and healthcare business for humans and the veterinary medicine world. We created a way to utilize our real estate development experience to bring advanced healthcare for companion animals to Dallas. MedVet will be an exceptional operating partner for us.” said Boisfontaine.

Meridian organized Texas Veterinary Specialty Hospital Investors, LLC to develop and own the approximately 38,000 square foot property located at Central Expressway and Northaven Road.  MedVet will be the tenant under a long-term lease arrangement. M+A Architects, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has been selected for the project’s design, construction documentation, and construction administration.  Construction is expected to commence in Q4 2017.

MedVet plans to begin operations in its new 24-hour hospital located at 11343 N Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75243 in Q4 of 2018.
